As calls for defunding the police continue across the country, NYC educators, students, and parents call for the removal of the police from our school communities. The New York City Council will be voting on the city budget by the end of the month and we need to continue to the momentum by putting pressure on our elected officials to listen to the needs of the community now more than ever. Getting the NYPD out of schools will help cultivate safe, accepting, and anti-racist communities.
Be a part of the movement by marching with us to City Hall this Saturday! We will meet at 11am at Union Square. Please bring masks and signs and be ready to make noise! At 1pm at City Hall, youth activists will be performing a play calling for the defunding of the NYPD and cops out of schools.
Cops do not keep schools safe, communities do!
